By Royal Appointment

I can't belieeeeeeeve how much telly and news has been taken over by the news that Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married next year.

Do they really think we care that much ?. I mean, good luck and everything but get the fuck off my telly, i'm sick of it.

As my father said when he heard the news "I couldn't give a shiny shite!".As you can tell i'm a bit intolerant of news stories that get rammed down my throat. Unless it's something special and ongoing i see no point in repeating stuff that everyone in the world knew 8 hours ago.

The Chilean miners was another. Once they were out and everyone was ok. That's it as far as i am concerned. But no, we now have documentaries, interviews, how they survived, what did they eat, Who had the first shag. etc.
But at least that was interesting i suppose.
Not getting married yet does not warrant a ITN / BBC1 / BBC2 / Channel 4 / Channel 5 / Sky News half our special in between rolling news on the "happy story".

Favourite quote on the news "I think the whole country has forgotten the current economic climate, recession, cutbacks and banking problems for a moment. Everyone feels lifted and happy by the news, just what Britain needed right now"
(Spoken by a news reporter standing on a street corner in front of a tramp begging for cash.)

Good points. The media definitely overdo things. And the reporter telling us what we think while the background shows how inane his happy talk is, is beyond stupid. Are we so far gone that we need to be told what we think of things? Can't we figure it out for ourselves?

That said, when there's an event I'm really pleased about (such as a big victory for the Red Sox with several players turning in outstanding performances), I do like to read more than one newspaper account of it.

The media is all about ratings, money their point of view. They don't care about anything else. They have just about ruined the US. They focus on what they want and ignore the rest. Why do you think we have a half wit as President. They gushed and gushed over him. Never once reporting significant details that they would on the opposition. I am glad that there are more outlets available now to get more than one side to a story. Sorry for the rant.. They just disgust me..

is the case for an expensive royal wedding in times of austerity. I tend to agree, so long as I don't have to watch any of it, or buy any souvenirs.

is a shot of the royal knob so you may assess whether or not at least one person involved is getting their money's worth.

I'm a bit bored with the wedding coverage. I just hope we get a bank holiday!

The Royal Family (where have I heard that before?) have a knack for coming up with soap opera stories when required. This wedding is not the first politically well-tied piece of theatre. And it is just that: theatre.

Make no mistake a democratic country should have an elected President.

You only have to look at America to see what a shining example their politics are to the world!

They have been running this story here in the states on every news station and every high profile news show. Over here it is a big thing, they will have coverage about it everyday, every fifteen mins. till the wedding. I'm happen for them, but lets move on......
