Update on Moving Home

I'm now in residence at my new home and have had my broadband turned on. But this house move is turning into a nightmare. I think i may have bitten off more than i can chew. I'm coming home from work, stuffing a sandwich down my throat and then dragging an old pair of jeans and t-shirt on to start grafting away into the night painting, decorating and rebuilding this dump into some kind of home.
It was a little bit on the derelict side (that's another reason it was so cheap) but there is a sense of achievement when you transform a mess into something you can live in. My personal peeve is that it doesn't seem to be taking the same amount of time it does when you see it on TV.
They transform homes in an hour for god sake, why is this taking bloody weeks ?. And they manage to do it on a budget that's under £ 100. This is costing a fortune !.
How much work can there be?. What needs changing ?.
Well ladies and gentlemen, may i present a couple of snaps of my bathroom and the ceiling of the main room before i started work on it. Don't ya just love the colour of the paintwork, the wallpaper and especially the toilet seat ?.

I have said it before and i'll say it again. Just because i am gay doesn't mean i know anything about interior design or fashion, but even i know that this is unacceptable and it all has to go. It's giving me a headache just looking at it.

How can people live in something like this ?.

That is indeed some shocking decor! I can see how it would give you a headache. But just take it easy and don't try to do everything at once. Concentrate on the worst of it, and just do one room at a time.

Courage and Honour!

Octavius.

Octavius has made my point for me. Doing one room at a time will save your sanity and budget. God to see you back online though. Try restricting your decorating time to the hours you would otherwise have been commuting. Don't forget to spend some me time enjoying yourself.

Great to see you posting.

I must say, I really do like the wallpaper.

A one-man crew always needs more time than a team.

So, as the others say, take your time. Do what is comfortable for you at any given time, don't knock yourself out, and don't become a slave to it. Eventually you'll have worked through all you want to do. Meanwhile enjoy what you have. So what if it's not ready for you to invite Her Majesty to visit until a year from now? It's yours!

Hey Just leave it alone.
I'm an artist I know about this shit...
Just flog it all to Tate modern man...you gonna make a fortune from that post modern ironic shit...thats what its called btw...
No really..one room at a time is great advice.
Think about a painting party where you invite some trusted friends over, they paint, you cook and keep em happy...
Just a thought
Good Luck

Hi Michael, good to see you back on line. As others have said, take it easy, finish one room at a time, keeping all your materials in one rooms (the last one you are going to decorate) and try not to spread your mess through the whole house, it wil just depress you. If you can get some mates in to help now and then....great. Good luck and take care as always - Peter-D.

Thanks for all your comments, doing one room at a time sounds good, but it's to late i already got carried away. Perhaps finishing one room at a time would be a better idea.
The main room and Bedroom first i think. Then the kitchen. then the rest.

Alternatively paint everything with two coats of white paint to cover it up and make it look clean.

Then do one room at a time!

That toilet seat rocks.

Getting some mates over to help is a very good idea.
I get so bored decorating, but organising a crew is my forte.
