A quiet night in

It's a Saturday night and i'm staying in tonight.
Cash flow and all that.
But Daniel has come over and we are sitting here drinking and having a merry old time. Not!.

He's fast asleep on the sofa and i'm on the computer. What a bloody boring idea that was!.

When you've been mates with someone for so long and know each other inside out it's ok to not talk sometimes. You don't feel uncomfortable having to try keeping up the conversation in the same way you might do with a new boyfriend or acquaintance.

The down side is that you don't feel compelled to stay awake when someone gets boring and if they are getting on your nerves you don't have any qualms about telling them to sod off and leave you alone for a bit.

We've run out of conversation, and the drink isn't hitting the spot tonight.
I think you have to be in the mood to have a good night on drink. I know that i for instance would never sit alone at home with a can expecting to have fun on my own. I need conversation and company to do that. So is it really the drink or is it the company ?. Tonight there has been plenty of drink, but we are still not in the mood.

I like Daniels company and we get on great. That's the up side of having a close friend. You don't feel the need to talk all the time. Sometimes it's enough to have them there in the background.
Even if he does snore !.

I am messing about with the template. All change, time to spring clean.
The clocks also go back tonight so one less hour in bed.
I don't know why i wrote that last sentence, it has no relevance to the rest of the post and i have no other comment to make on the subject.
To much drink, i'm babbling.

I did not know that about the clocks! Good job you said! Nobody here's mentioned it. I bet none of them realise it.
I agree about how sometimes you don't have to talk to friends if you are really close. But there are one or two (not so close) with whom I fall into a stony silence and I sit or lie or whatever and look at him not speaking and think, 'what the fuck am I doing here with you?' Should I be saying that out loud? There aren't so many of those these days tho'. Hey, I think I just turned you into Agony Uncle Mambam!

I'll still have an extra hour in bed tomorrow anyway i always do on sundays, it's catch up day.

Yeh, maybe i should start a new feature, Agony uncle mambam.

Alcohol is overrated, I find it drags me down, unless it's a Long Island Ice Tea. But I only drink them in Thailand, where I go often. maybe it's the location that makes them seem fun.
Your friend sounds like a bit of a drag, try the Thai cure for snoring, hold a pillow over his face for about 5 minutes. Works every time.

I think it's great that you and Daniel are such good mates.

Recently I saw a headline to an article which read, "Moderate Drinking Helps Heart." Naturally this was encouraging, as I do a lot of moderate drinking.

'Moderate Drinking Helps Heart' what? Getting involved? Nah! That takes heavy drinking closely follwed by oblivion. Now who's the agony uncle?

i have done my share of "moderate" drinking too, but still had a 4 way heart bypass 5 years ago so maybe it doesn't work for everyone!!
